Ford partnering with Tesla to give Ford customers access to Tesla's fast-charging network is a positive for both companies, but especially Ford , CFRA analyst Garrett Nelson says in a note. Other automakers have been reluctant to share a charging network with Tesla given the competitive threat that it represents, but Ford's decision should bolster its electric vehicle sales in the long run, the analyst says. The move also helps Tesla qualify for a piece of $7.5B in federal funding for electric-vehicle chargers, which is a high-margin source of revenue, he says. Shares of Ford and Tesla were up 7.4% and 5.4%, respectively.
