The personal consumption expenditure price index for August that the Fed uses to target inflation is due for release Friday at 8.30 a.m. ET, along with consumer spending and personal income numbers. Shortly after the stock-market opens, the Chicago PMI and the final University of Michigan consumer sentiment reading will be released also.
Fed Vice Chair Lael Brainard headlines another wave of comments by policy makers on Friday.
U.S. bond yields slipped Friday ahead of an August inflation report and comments from a top Federal Reserve official.
