I know that Pinterest is very popular, but in 1- 3 sentences and in layman's terms, can you explain to me what makes them special or stand out from other social media platforms?
They’re not “special”, they’re different. You find shyt you like and create these boards you pin things to. Not sure the age of their usebase now, but it got really popular with women in the 20-40 age range 5-10 years ago. Most popular categories of pins are home decor/design, fashion, food/recipes, and fitness. They started as just an idea board but then of course added sponsored pins (ads) and worked to add more shoppable pins - ie instead of just pinning a random lamp from Google images that you like, Pinterest tries to find the link to the vendor so that someone can click thru and actually buy the lamp. I guess that’s where the PayPal interest comes in, wanting to really kick up the commerce side of it.

my Pinterest is mostly recipes, dream homes, and a tattoo designs

Damn…I haven’t been in the loop but nikkas made Jeremy from FE fall back? Lol. They love you one day and hate you the next :wow:

Well he makes content for an audience that has a very short attention span. I don't buy into all his picks but if he puts a company forward I like I will buy. His audience wants everything to be Elf Beauty. Many of these people have probably been investing for a year or less and if he picks something they ain't waiting for a year or two to reap the rewards.

It took me a good 2 years into buying stocks to fully understand you have to be really patient with these stocks. Now I buy a company and I don't even really follow the short term price action all that much. I got companies I own like Apple that half the time I can't even tell you what the share price is but I know I'm up a couple 100% on the original purchase.

Short term share price is just not a valid indication of a company's actual worth. Most investors that are watching these YouTube videos aren't looking to buy into a company they're looking to buy a lottery ticket. I learned the hard way buying and selling Tesla pre-stock split that if you but a good company you have to have enough faith in it to hold through some really rough times. If you can't don't buy at all.

FE sounds like he got caught up in his audience's unrealistic expectations for him.

it's based on images and focus on inspiration for a wide range of things such as decorating, cooking, crafts, etc. i think they can become a somewhat e-commerce site by having links to buy stuff posted on the site which will help drive growth.
