just curious why did you sale out of T? especially with that merger news?

from my understanding they are selling warnermedia and will have no ownership in it. part of why i invested in T is because i believe in warnermedia and like their dividends. this story is developing but the biggest reasons for me to hold onto T are gone. maybe them focusing on their wireless service will pay off big but as of right now the business model for why i invested isn't there anymore.

thats the exact reason I'm in on it...I haven't had chance to look today. I was just going off of what I saw in passing. I was under the assumption ATT acquired 70% of that group with discovery and would increase their entertainment wing. I also didn't know the dividend was going down. that the primary reason I was with them crap hasn't really increased over the past 2+ years. Between the telecom, entertainment, and dividend that is the only reason I invested in them.

i was hoping this would be a dividend and growth play with HBO Max but yeah, T has been trading in a small range for so long that i rather take my money and capital gains to another company at this point if dividends are getting cut.

It’s a Reverse Morris Trust structure so AT&T is doing a tax free spin off the entity to its shareholders and that entity will merge into Discovery to form a NewCo.

As an AT&T shareholder you will get a pro-rata share distribution in the new entity. So overall AT&T shareholders, not the Company, will own 71% of the new combined business.

The idea is that the new entity will get a re-rated growth multiple that’s favorable to shareholders that the market has not given it credit for due to the legacy cash-rich but slow growth AT&T business.

You own T then you’ll get shares of the spin-off company. T owners will own 70% of the new company. You can just sell your T shares and buy more of the spinoff or just ride it out and treat both like it’s still the same. The spinoff should unlock value for both.

I'm salty over Raytheon. I never should have sold it back when it was in the low 60s.

what happened to Raytheon I’m not allowed to invest in them but is it some big news occurring or are you just preparing for military industrial buys?

too much in the air for me to feel comfortable holding it, especially when there are other companies i like more than T right now.

This fukked up growth market has finally allowed it to move. shyt used to hit walls at 70 and fall back to 65 all the time last year. But now it’s at $86. I sold some of my shares earlier this year out of frustration with it, but now I’m happy I kept some. One of my few greens at this point

T has gone nowhere in share price for decades. 2 decades ago it was a $40 stock and today it's $30.

it's not an exciting stock for sure. i added most of my shares under $29 so felt good about my cost basis and i felt like hbo max was going to drive their growth to the next level. oh well.

i'm really liking TEAM the more i look into it. my company uses a lot of atlassian services and it's just sticky. plus they have services for every department instead of specializing in something strictly for IT or just project management.

Whats going on with Tesla, should I sell :sadcam:

what’s your investing strategy? Longterm holds or bouncing in and out of stocks.

longterm holding isn’t easy but if you believe in companies and have done the research, you can get through the noise. It’s a bad time for growth stocks, Tesla was gonna get hit as the posterboy. Stocks don’t go up in straight lines, there’s down and sideways periods. Tesla traded sideways for five years before exploding. There’s people that sold and missed the huge jump up. Patience is key. I’m personally holding for 10 years unless significant changes happen with company.

If you prefer to trade in and out of stocks, you should know charts and technical trading. Or maybe others got advice for that.

key’s for Tesla are continued high demand. I don’t see a problem there or with ramping up.
China government may be an issue as they could prefer Chinese ev’s. When will fsd be ready and passed? What about energy side of business. For the last three items, only one or two has to hit for Tesla to do well.
