@Brady Hoke's Artery still long and strong on CERE? i've been watching and contemplating

Still in... I'll ride it to 0. Probably won't average down though. I wanted to short it 20 cents ago, but didn't anticipate it could drop like it has. Just crazy to watch it drop. I don't remember if I mentioned, but I put one of my boys onto the stock that works at a major institution and he bought in too (and still holding). Every time we talk, he says the continual price drop after positive news and no new bad news is one of the more perplexing things he's seen.

So I am going to invest in a mutual fund but the financial advisor at my bank is pushing me to pay a 5.5% front load charge to invest. I know that once you pay that charge you will never again have to pay any kind of fee, but doesn't that seem kind of high?

well the fees are typically around 5% ive seen it as high as 8. There are no-load mutual funds. Your adviser just wants the money for helping you pick a fund.

historically there is no difference in returns from load and no load funds but your adviser wants to make money so he'll recommend the one with front loads.

CNET did some things today once again..The Alibaba rumors were confirmed in a PR I believe...

LAS - what we thinkin? I bought in near EOD, because earnings (supposedly nice ones) are coming on Monday. Yet another Chinese company, these nikkas should be aight.

Oh and the weedsector been showin HUGE signs of life. Big bosses like ATTBF, TRTC and VPOR are in reversal mode I dare state. Too bad I fukked around and didn't catch the bottom on VPOR. Monday should be a nice buy opp.

So let me get this straight. The load is a one time fee paid up front at around 5% and after that there are no yearly fees? And no load mutual funds pay a small percentage fee every year?

If you plan on holding your investment for a long time wouldn't the load be better?

the load is typically a fee to buy and sell a fund or shares in a fund and theres going to be yearly fees to manage your money.

So why would anyone pay the load????

here's a simple explanation http://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/125.asp

obviously the loaded %, management fees, brokers fees, etc will vary.

I recently picked up some etf shares and had to pay a commission but my first dividend paid my brokers fee for the year and the commission off.

you're going to have to pay to play no matter what

:manny:

try to do some research on what you're interested in, ask your broker for their charts, get a few suggestions, pick what feels right, check them once a month, and you're off.
