i mean it's unrealized losses, not actual losses on investment. TSLA was damn near 900/share on Mon, today it's been under 800, PLTR 40 vs 35, AAPL was 145 vs 133, TDOC was 290 vs 264, BIGC 90 vs 80, TAN 125 vs 108, etc....nothing fundamentally changed about these stocks, the week of fukkery has simply erased gains as people pull money off the board during this volatile phase

My shyt fukked too but we just hold or add more :yeshrug:

This is part of why I can't do what y'all do in here. I've been investing for about 10 years and done really well in the past few (obviously bull market) but I usually only view my portfolio 1-2x a month.

I feel like this week alone I've lost some years and I haven't put any money into these YOLO stocks.
I'd say you know yourself and the type of trader you are and that's the best thing.
I know I'm a swing trader myself but this week has been fun trying to day trade but I know I'm not really good at it :lolbron: Plus, I've learnt plenty when it comes to options (which I had almost no knowledge of) trying to understand all the GME fukkery. To me it's a good week for the experience alone even though my portfolio is at -7% as we speak.

portfolio is now down 13k from the highs it touched monday :damn:
I'm down in the 5 figure range as well, and not even phased.

I was down in the ball park of folks yearly salaries last year only to come back and nearly triple from my lows. This all house money at this point :blessed:

I might be missing something here, but how would RH users buying up shares drive them into insolvency? If it it's related to margin - how much were they truly extending to folks?

I'm not familiar with their business enough to understand the risk these trades posed to them, but I hope it doesn't come down to them lending out a considerable amount of money to their users who are new to investing.
Robinhood has to cover the pending options and cover shorts forcing them to hold the underlying asset. They have to have liquidity as well to operate. If the ask price on the stock rises thousands of dollars on such a volatile stock how do they stay afloat?

I might just be too skeptical but I find it hard to believe they truly were on the brink of insolvency.

Either way, I'm looking forward to the investigation to find out if they truly didn't have the resources to cover these positions or if the CEO is full of shyt.

People were putting in limit sells for well over a grand that started to get filled. With margin, options, shorts what do you honestly think would happen if Gamestop had a share price of $5000 a share? Do you think Robinhood and the smaller brokers could afford the avalanche of that? I doubt it.
