I would only be putting net new capital that I don't mind losing into Tesla now. I've considered it since my position is so small and I come back to the same conclusion. Keep the same 5 shares and if there's a pullback to the $500s or even less buy more and if not oh well.

I missed the train on this. Hurts because like I said pre split I owned the stock but bought it with money I wasn't comfortable losing at the time. The stock was volatile so I was looking to swing trade it. It fell so low I felt I had to pull out. It fell even lower but I was inside the period of time that it would have been a wash sale so I didn't repurchase even though I desperately wanted to. This was when it fell into the $180s. The rest is history. It never fell that low again and I just stopped paying attention to it after that.

After the stock split I was looking at my 100 shares of Uber and said screw it I'll sell half and buy some Tesla since the share price is so low. I actually planned to continue buying but it took off again and now I'm back to looking to see some sort of pullback.

Man when yall pile into Tesla and Bitcoin now at this stage in the game yall need to come to terms with the fact that you mad late.

The people that were into these and were pushing them some are up so high that if there was a correction and they're up 800% or more on that initial investment they're cool. You got people with cost basis of $200-$500 on a stock that's $4000 now so yeah they're fearless.

Buying at $800 expect a correction and expect to lose a lot of money on paper quick and don't sell. Same with Bitcoin that has a history of unstable pullbacks. Bitcoin is $40k I remember that shyt falling back into the $3k range.

Tesla and Bitcoin aren't the end of stocks and crypto that's gonna blow up. At these levels you're honestly better off looking for the next thing to blow than FOMOing into something so late.

Proceed with caution and expect to likely face major losses in the short-term that seem very unpleasant to ride out but be willing to ride it out for years if needed.

higher gets higher. :shaq:

don't look at the price. look at the future breh. is this FOMO? probably. but people are realizing something big is coming. Biden is the president he will lead the pack globally and do good things go help this dying planet.

look around. we got like 8 billion people and it's keeps going. and there is so many untapped potential all parts of the globe. Imagine India is start buying Tesla and other EV cars. Africa is developing fast as hell and Elon is South African.

and now that Tesla can raise money like it's nothing, they can do whatever with their technology. and seriously i'm starting to really believe Tesla will be the most influential company in this century because they will lead the pack in decarbonization. Elon really might be genius and he will not just focus on cars. He wants to go to Mars for godsake. Whatever there is to help this Earth, Tesla will do it because at the end of the day they are the energy company. I think of this company as a Rockefeller in 1800s with standard oil.

If i just started investing with no Tesla shares then my account would look like this

TSLA 40-50%
High growth stocks 30-35%
Penny stocks 5-10%
Cash 10-15%

Yes there are more explosive gainers. But are they truly the 10 year long term hold? There are so many great stocks out there, but are they really worth diluting my portfolio? for me, there aren't many 10 year long term hold.

I would buy now.
I would buy the dip.
Price action is not important.
Building a position is more important.

It's all about how many shares you got.

Oh by the way for those who still dont understand what bitcoin is, this sums it up.

In a prison, there are no currencies. No one has access to money of any kind. But a prison, although small, is still a society. And a society needs to trade goods and services. Maybe someone is a barber. This person will cut people’s hair but wants something in return. Something that he can use to later go to his cellmate and give him in return for the book that he wants from him. The cellmate also needs something in return for the book to use for getting himself another book.

How do you do this without money?

Well, they use cigarettes as a currency. A hair cut is worth 20 packs. A chance to play basketball is worth 10 packs. A book is worth 5 packs and so on. There is a problem. There are not enough cigarettes inside the prison in each person’s hands to be able to do all the transactions. But everyone knows that once a week a new supply comes in. So instead of getting the packs from each other, they start “owing” each other some packs of cigarettes. Joey gets a haircut and he owes the barber 20 packs. The barber gets a book and owes John 5 packs. Once the new shipment comes in, everyone will settle their debts.

But how do we keep track of all this?

Well, everyone will have to carry a notebook with them. Whenever two people make a transaction, they both write it down in their books. Luke writes “I owe Johnny two packs” and Johnny writes “Luke owes me two packs”. This way we know who owes what to whom. But we all write everything in the same format. One transaction after another. So it becomes a long chain of transactions. If I know how many cigarettes I had at any point and go through the transactions after it, I can figure out how many cigarettes I will have.

Last problem: how do we know what people wrote in their books are correct and no one is faking transactions? I can go steal someones book and write a fake transaction in it.

Well, to overcome this we assign the wisest most trustworthy person in the prison as a witness. Whenever two people are making a transaction, he has to witness it and sign both books with his own signature. This way, we know that each transaction is witnessed by our trusted person and actually happened.

Cigarettes are bitcoin. Notebooks are ledgers. The agreed upon text format in the notebooks is blockchain. The wise persons are bitcoin miners.

FOMO is never a good reason to invest in anything.

Tesla has been the future for years now. What's different about it now than it was say a year ago or even at the stock split? It's still the same company.

Any way you slice it a lot of people looked at Tesla and saw how volatile it was. They deemed it an unsafe investment and backed away. Now that all this momentum has gotten into it people are trying to hop on a moving train because they think it's safe now. I beg to differ, the risk is different now and less obvious but it's still not a sure thing like people want to pretend.

It's the same as with BTC on it's last run where people were getting cash off credit cards to try and buy BTC cause it was in the $20K range and they didn't wanna miss out. You get all these people piling into something they don't actually believe in because they see it as some sort of no brainer lotto ticket and think it's a safe bet once things don't go that way you could get trampled by people running for the exits.

It isn't even Tesla that concerns me it's the people we got piling into this thing now that do. Nobody is acknowledging any of the risk anymore because they see this propped up on itself.

He owns a Tesla and even he's admitted that with a few changes he'd jump ship. It's mainly the range and the charging network. Tesla is ahead but it's not insurmountably ahead.
