Breh if you're crushing the market on your own account year in and out, all you need to do is convince some people to invest some money. There are thousands of small hedge funds set up by guys whose only selling point is their track record. There is an abundance of money out there. If you have the skill and the desire, you can make it happen easily.
youre right. many of the billionaire hedge fund managers we know came out that way.

most are jewish.

most of these nikkas i know aint on that frugal shyt :snoop:. The other day my dad asked me for some stocks he should invest in. Why didnt he listen to me last year during the bullmarket when TSLA< EVR, LYV and AYA was still for the low. :beli:

Me and my homie Nathan have been talkin about this though. He started his fund with some money his dad saved. My boy Bowen might give me like 20-30K to manage for him. Etc etc. I wanna do this shyt for the love though...could care less about the $

:dead:Yea well there are certain advantages to being around people who already have money.

My dads invested a good amount in an under-performing mutual fund for the past couple years. I offered to simply put it in index funds if he didnt want to do any kind of stock picking at all. Even though he'd make more money and the expense ratios are much less, he refused:snoop:These "professionals" out here still fooling the average guy into thinking they are doing something special.

Meant to ask you about this but I forgot before. What kind of rep does Canaccord Genuity have in canada? I've got a meeting with a trader from there sometime tomorrow and I honestly don't know much about the firm.

real shyt fam. I remember seeing my dad have a lot of money invested with ScotiaCapital; theres nothing those heads are doing that you cant by reading over 10Ks and using MS Excel during the weekend.

and honestly man Canaccord Genuity has been moving very very well right now. When i think Canadian boutique that is literally THE first investment bank that would come to mind. Good luck for the interview. Is it in their NY or TO offices?

For an idea, their revenue is between that of Moelis and Evercore .I know of them mostly for financial advisory on M&A and equity research though. Never knew they did trading at all. The push towards M&A started with an acquisition they made (for Genuity) a few yrs ago

NY office. Not an interview yet. I reached out to him a while ago as hes a fellow alumnus and we had a great conversation. He wanted to meet me first before he officially recommended me but brehs been out of town for a while. Finally set it up so I was going to do my DD tonight. Hopefully something comes of it. If not, plenty of other people to talk to.

You seem to be interested in eq research. Any desire to take the CFA? I'm looking to take the first exam either this December or next June. It opens a lot of doors in research and portfolio management, even if you don't have the opportunity to start your career there out of college.

definitely interested in ER. If I could land a job in ER and build a career there I think I'd be content for life. I wanna do the CFA but I feel like theres so many of us doing it now that its gonna turn into the new bachelors degree for finance :to: It's hard to evaluate the cost-benefit in this climate. Ill be done paying off my school debt by December so if anything I might look at the test for Next June.

Yea a lot of people do it but a lot of them drop out after the first or second exam. From everything I have heard about this thing, it is quite time intensive. If plodding through 3 years of this shyt leads to me closer to somewhere I want to be, then it will be well worth it. Might get a CPA too. fukk it. Why not?

Edit: Thinking back on it, literally every Chinese kid in my grad school classes was taking the CFA :dead:

i actually went to school for accounting and was initially gonna try to use the CPA as a stepping stone into corporate finance, banking or ER. THe way it is in Canada though you have to land a job at whats called a "training office" designated corporate offices + big 4 acctg firms basically. I had an interview with the Ontario Securities Commission for their program (woulda been the perfect stepping stone) as well as Walmart's head office but no luck last year.

New to the stock market...want to invest 200 a month for a long term savings

I want strictly blue chip, dividend paying stocks, and then I'll reinvest the dividends

should i build up more than $200 initially, or start investing $200 a month?

it's never too early to start I'd probably just start now and let it build.

looking to put on a broken wing butterfly for CMG

540, 555, 575 - if it drops, I lose nothing. If it ends at 555, I make 1,520 per spread , max loss is 480 per spread that's if it passes 580...chart does not suggest this however
