If you're buying decently ran companies and just hold onto them for some years they'll go up as the market does. I sold Zillow for of all things to buy into the Uber IPO. I sold those Uber stocks later because it was doing nothing and bought Intel. Ultimately my $30 turned into about $51 and at times with Intel was into the $60s but I would have been better off just holding Zillow.
I also bought Fiverr at IPO and sold it at a slight loss in the lower $30s. Fiverr is like $152 right now.
Ouch @ fiver

My new philosophy in investing brehs

BE SKEPTICAL

i followed youtube, read articles, and etc. at the end of the day these along with penny stocks are just spec stocks. we are just speculating. reading stocktwits, yahoo, reddit, discord and etc are not researching.

my instinct told me to sell SHLL and eat profit, but i got greedy. i took massive L even though i didn't lose any money. why? because i wasn't skeptical. :francis:

we gotta stop buying into hype brehs. be skeptical and be cautious. when it comes to investing we have to be a glass half empty nikkas. that's how we grow our wealth.

ya I learned that from crypto...most ppl are just pumping their shytbags

that’s directed at stocktwits and the sort and not a reflection of the posters in this thread

with stocktwits you might find a good lead but you have to muddle thru far too much shyt to find it...but it can be very worthwhile when you do upon doing your own due diligence

still I like the market tho...depending on what you are looking at its FAR less speculative than crypto was unless you’re dealing with penny stocks or investing in new companies/mergers

stocktwit is prolly the worst thing happened to so called robinhooders. it has more misinformation and it's so damn toxic.

also we all need to have an exit plan. i cringed when i got out of HLYN at $37. took major L, but i know it was downtrending and i really honestly didn't believe in the stock. i mean i know it's a nice company with a young CEO and they have a cash. but at the end of the day it's a damn niche company. i would rather invest in TSLA knowing it's about to dominate the world. just gotta know when to get out. really feel like a stupid idiot not getting out at $58. i mean that's almost 3x from my avg at that time. lesson learned.

ya that’s a problem I had...I’d end up “falling in love” with the wrong companies instead of operating the way I’m used to and securing profits...I’d leave the money in to long and end up taking a loss or being lucky enough to break even when I could’ve easily came out ahead
