The reason for selling off this week has nothing to do with profit taking and valuations, it's because of all the uncertainty around the election. Trump hasn't calmed anything he continues to make shyt worse every time he speaks and there is still no stimulus plan which everyone thought would be a done meal a month ago

dont they stop trading if the dow drops by a thousand? :dead:

Under market rules, circuit breakers kick in at three thresholds:

  • Level 1: A drop of 7% from the prior day's closing price of the S&P 500 triggers a 15-minute trading halt. Trading is not halted if the drop occurs at or after 3:25 p.m. ET.
  • Level 2: A drop of 13% triggers a 15-minute halt. Trading is not halted if the drop occurs at or after 3:25 p.m. ET.
  • Level 3: A drop of 20% triggers a halt for the rest of the trading day, and trading resumes the following day.

Basically, when the Dow was like 10k, a 1000 point drop would be 10% so that would trigger the breakers. Now that the Dow is almost 30k, a 1000 point drop doesnt hit the 7% threshold so we keep on trading.
