Bought a share of MSFT and one of DIS today. Caught them after the market shyt the bed. Too bad MSFT went ex-dividend yesterday.

Y'all... I just earned my first 500 shares of a 2000 share RSU award from work.

Only to see the value drop $500 in a single day due to this Coronavirus mess. Any tips for how I should manage this moving forward?

Its a short term drop so it only matters to you if youre trying to cash out right this moment. Otherwise, just hold til you get gains.

I'm guessing these are vested shares if its part of a work package so theres likely a limit on when you can sell those shares anyway...typically 6months-1year that you have to hold before you can sell without penalty.

Yeah, it's an exercise in financial literacy for sure. But also blessed to be within the tech-sector which uses stock as part of their compensation packages often.

Feels like a good opportunity for me to actually participate in the market.

Unless you're looking to be an active investor (playing the market daily, weekly, etc) then don't put too much thought into your company stock. Your plan is to be there a long time and if you believe in the company then you assume it will increase in value over time. That means that if you sit on the stock (even when they drop like today) over the long term you'll come out way ahead. Its not guaranteed but as long as your company is good and continues to advance/add value, then you'll be good long term.

Great advice. I've earned 1/4 of total 4-year package.
Good to know the best bet is to do nothing. I was geeked initially and overthinking it. Haha.
