Question:
What happens to your stock that you have in a smaller company and they get purchased by one of the huge companies out there?
A price per share buyout is negotiated in the acquisition. Typically above market value. An example would be when Cablevision was bought out. Their share price at the time was say $22. And the buyout settled active shareholders at $30. By proxy you sell back the shares you owned at $22, for $30.
