Im talkin bout the music itself sounding similar to chicago shyt....the beats, basic ass rhymes, flow, vocal inflections and adlibs seem eerily similar to that trash from the chi...listen to schmoney dance and computers...how the fukk are they not drill or similar to it? I dont give a fukk if these r young black nikkas puttin on for ny...i wanna hear dope shyt from the city that the masses latch on too.....this aint it....my opinion...

Mediocre ripoffs aint the wave....and i aint asking these nikkas to rap like its 94....but cmon son....maky ny music

Drill is what's hot? If anything it's less popular than ever, if we wanted to copy what's hot these nikkas would be rapping over DJ Mustard and Mike Will Made It style beats. Regardless, there's not a single drill beat on here it's Jahlil Beats, an instrumental for a Lloyd Banks song is the main single. Y'all telling me this sound like Chief Keef? Other than 808's how this sound like drill, I'd like to see one song by Keef that sounds like a song on this tape.

Are you in tune with the city, are you in tune with the youth? These are the most organic nikkas coming out of New York, Joey BADA$$ who I think is exceptionally talented that nikka don't represent NYC in '14 still referring to Brooklyn as Medina and talking about word is bond. Troy Ave be rapping like he 50's son with a little bit of Mase. This is what young NYC nikkas dress like Polo and street brands like G-Star, this is how young NYC nikkas talk like referring to each other as bro constantly, talking about it's lit, and referring to their group of friends as a squad, thot and off the shyts is how young nikkas across the United States are talking right now and yeah that do come from Chicago but it's just part of the urban lexicon now. Not to mention these nikkas got their own slang mixed in the whole putting -sh in front of words, Zoe, hott :manny:

Lets not front on the bars listen to these verses you gonna tell me Shmurda wasn't spitting on Computers? These rhymes aren't overly complex but they paint pictures they hit hard and they are the reality of what these nikkas are facing, the adlibs, the hooks these nikkas have charisma they have that street essence that NY lacks. We should be trying to get behind these guys instead of knocking them down. Y'all need to realize this is NYC, THIS is what represents NYC youth right now they not trying to be like nobody.

These nikkas represent kids now. This is NY now, kid's that are into Keef, Meek, Drake, Gucci, Wayne, music from all over... u gotta understand that they gonna emulate what they into, as they progress grow, they gonna find there own sound and voice. When Nas started he emulated G rap cuz thats what was hot, but the talent and the charisma and the identity was there. That's what makes an artist transcend and thats what has people excited.

These nikkas took a little bit of this and a little bit of that and put a NY spin on it. I don't think that's biting. Wayne did it, Nobody say's Jay Elec is wack/a biter and you would swear he was NY nikka. It's just the reality that kid's have not had a NY rapper to inspire them in years. What should they sound like? What beats should they use? From what producer? That Abillion kid that rolls with them is pure gold, can rap his ass off... that shyt don't sounds like drill, it just sounds current.

thing is this NY music, atleast to me. Music is just a reflection of lifestyle... they spitting they life. i listened to your soundcloud and u actually can rap somewhat, but ur shyt has no vision, no premise, u just was rapping. I couldnt say 3 things about who u r and listened to 3 of your records. Specifically the "Bars" joints. The song is named Bars nikka, I couldnt even learn about you from the title. I got no image of how u dressed, how u thought, who u were, just words. Ya'll old nikkas just gotta take this wave man.

These aren't the only artists coming out of NY breh. You know that right? The people decide what they like and they like this. Down south nikkas wasn't mad at J Cole cause he sounded like a NY nikka lol. You won't ever hear a nikka down hear say that shyt. Hence why the south has been on top so long. We support each other.

Aka you wanna see NY flourish only if they make the kind of old school NY music you grew up on? Right?

This is what it really comes down to.

And who are they supposed to sound like? What is NY hip hop in 2014 supposed to sound like?!!?!?

Fact is. These 18-20 year olds are sounding and being influenced by trap & drill because it's what they're listening to. They weren't just mostly listening to NY hip hop like their precursors. So obv the influence and their sound is gonna be different

People always say shyt like "NY went from Nas to French Montana". Well, NY also went from Big Daddy Kane to Dipset (who were undeniably influenced by the south to some degree)

And then there was a gap in NY in terms of new rappers for awhile and the south just took completely over. So the southern influence and exposure got even stronger on the east coast.

You can't really tell these kids that they have no right to be making southern and Midwestern influenced music when that's mostly what they're listening to.
If I made music and listened to mostly I don't fukking know..french electro music lol chances are it's gonna rub off on me and show in my music.

I live in Mass and was at 7/11 the other day kinda near the hood and a car rolled up of a group of what looked like 20 something year olds bumpin Migos. Honestly, I don't really hear cars bumpin NY hip hop (last week a car drove down my street playing Cam tho lol) and when I went to 3 parties last year in the hood over 4th of July weekend..18-25 year olds.. no NY sounding hip hop. All drill & trap music.

I imagine it's not much different in NY. Rocky & Asap don't listen really to no new New York rap (I did see Yams post one of these guys songs on his blog or something tho ..I think) They listen to some 90s NY shyt, 50, dipset, stack bundles and Midwestern & Southern hip hop.

Hip hop has come full circle.

Yeah man honestly teen agers and 20 year olds aren't fukkin wit Joey Badass and shyt like that around here up north..not where I live. If I went to a party and tried throwing on Troy Ave or some newer NY sounding hip hop I'd probably get laughed at and that shyt would probably get turned off and be replaced by some trap sounding shyt. I was hanging out in the hood last year wit some Latin Kings and they bumped Gucci the whole time.

I put Kevin Gates on at a party and people were fukking wit it heavy and asking me who it was lol

My age group (mid 20 year olds) and younger are listening to trap & drill. We were listening to southern music in our teens. We were being exposed to that. It wasn't just G Unit & Dipset.

From what I experienced hanging out in the hood up here a bit and around some street dudes ..no ones really listening to shyt but trap, drill, meek and some Drake. That's what the hood & streets are fukking with up here. Not TDE, ASAP, Pro Era, Chance or any of the rappers people classify as "hipster" on here. I doubt new 50 is even getting play in the hood like that around here cause he's not new and "played out".
