- built a program from the ground up and established FSU as one of college football's premier programs

- winningest coach in major college football history

- multiple national championships

- coached multiple Heisman winners

- sent countless players to the NFL, including all time greats like Deion and Derrick Brooks

- program stayed relatively clean throughout his tenure

- his '99 Noles were the first team to ever be wire-to-wire champions, never relinquishing the #1 ranking from preseason through the National Championship game vs. a VT squad led by a young Mike Vick

- 14 consecutive top 5 finishes in the AP poll from 87-2000, an NCAA record

that's my GOAT :to:

I'm watching this Halls of Fame show on FSN.

I always liked this dude. Easily my favorite college coach of all-time next to Stoops, of course. Just listening to him talk and tell stories is great...even at his advnaced age he stills seems sharp as a tack.

Seems like he always kept a pretty clean program despite times when alot of other big programs were getting sanctioned/bans etc. I could be wrong though...

A lot of the younger cats on here don't remember how FSU was always a missed field goal against the U away from winning the Nat. Champ, for 3 years in a row.

That stuff happens everywhere.

Bobby Bowden's mid 90's FSU teams are why i became a fan of college football. Watching them drop 50 or 60 on some lowly ACC foe every Saturday made me compelled to watch faithfully from that point on. He had a lil swagger for an old country boy coach. fukked with the Seminoles hard when they had Ward and Dunn Kanell and the bunch. But was so happy when my Virginia Cavaliers finally slayed Goliath.

i miss him, he was the foe but its not the same without him over there

sure as hell aint the GOAT tho, they had a ton of opportunities for more titles. Saban has 3 and is half his age, id personally take Osborne over him too. Jimmy J wasnt in college long enough to claim that distinction

Met Coach Bowden(there's only one) on several occasions. He's a real good genuine man that cared for those kids. He was a true father figure to a lot of players that came through his program, and he wanted to be that to em cause they needed male guidance more than that college scholarship.

Ask Prime about Coach Bowden and I bet that nikka tear up just of the thought of his name

Just saying. He created the term "old ball coach." Google it and see what you get.

And what Spurrier did in just 12 years at Florida, which hadn't really done anything on the national level before him, is up there with any coaching run in ncaa history.
