I'd rather have the salary slot then only have a minimum salary slot to usei wish he didnt give Poole that contract on his way out.

yeah exactly. they keep giving out bloated ass contracts and then saying money is tight. that's bad GM'ingI'd rather have the salary slot then only have a minimum salary slot to use
Jerry West also did not have to work under the same constraints. He had curry on a team friendly deal, Dray and Klay still reasonable... then we got KD, Curry got his max, same with Klay and Dray got his. So its not a fair comparison really.Mixed tenureJerry West was really the mastermind of the dynasty, saved them from multiple silly decisions. Meyers did not draft well at all, those two years where they missed the playoffs should have been an opportunity to prepare for the future with what looks like a strong draft class. However, they got a well earned championship last year. Many organizations would love to have what the warriors have had for the last decade.
Jerry West, Mark Jackson, Steph Curry & Steve Kerr all deserve credit.
You're not getting it.. money is tight because of what the rules allow them to use because of the tax situation. With Poole, you have a talented scorer that is young. So it's either lose him for nothing and only have a vet min to use or you sign him and hope he continues to develop or you can use his value to trade for more than you would signing a min vet.yeah exactly. they keep giving out bloated ass contracts and then saying money is tight. that's bad GM'ing
if they had money to give poole 30million over the next 4 years, they could use that to get actual players that fit. that was the better move. They immediately paid Poole, who is a 6th man like Lou Will or Jamal Crawford, a ridiculous amount of money, that he will never justify. You're not getting it.. money is tight because of what the rules allow them to use because of the tax situation. Back to the basement for Golden state. The next five years are Patrick Beverley
But they CANT if it's not Poole! They had Pooles rights and could extend him at that money. He walks.. they don't have 30 mil to spend.if they had money to give poole 30million over the next 4 years, they could use that to get actual players that fit. that was the better move. Also, Poole is not a "talented scorer". He scores at below league average efficiency everywhere except the FT line. He's also a putrid defender, rebounder, and was leading the league in turnovers per game. His BBIQ is also very low. There was no reason to pay him when Bob Myers could've waited to see if he could replicate it for another season.
they wouldnt have 30 mill but between not paying poole and wiggins taking a pay cut, they'd be in a MUCH better positionBut they CANT if it's not Poole! They had Pooles rights and could extend him at that money. He walks.. they don't have 30 mil to spend.
Before last year.. before he signed .. the potential was as a talented..dynamic scorer.
yes, the organization that won 2 more chips after this was said and the organization that hasn't been to the conf finals in over a decade
very comparable situations
They have so much tied to dray klay steph and wiggs (even at a discount) that they have nothing other than the MLE which they won't even have coming up. So it's important that we still have a salary slot to try to develop him or get talent back that matches that salary level.they wouldnt have 30 mill but between not paying poole and wiggins taking a pay cut, they'd be in a MUCH better position
I get what ur saying about what Poole was EXPECTED to be, but a good GM would have waited to see if Poole could replicate what he did the season before. They had poole's rights like u said, and his rookie deal wasnt up. They could match any offer any other team made for him. so they didnt have to pay him, and definitely didnt have to give him that much money.
Myers had little to do with creating the Warriors dynasty. Jerry West was the mastermind behind it all (in fact, he saved the organization from themselves).
This is what Myers did when the Logo left -
Not a cotdamn muh'fukken thing.
And I don't know why Bron is being brought up in here. Myers was calling it a day regardless of what happened this season.
