Weren't Arum saying this could do 2m PPV buys lol.
Hard to do in the streaming era...what does the app buys and theaters tickets factor into it? It was pretty loud in the theater I was in even though these two fat people sat ne t to me after letting those two people keep the seats they pre ordered.

Honestly I expected more?

I don't see a 3rd fight being a easy sell. This fight was marketed during the superbowl and wilder just got completely washed

this..if Wilder was..you know..able to win some rounds before the knockout came...a 3rd fight would be viable..but Wilder needs a rebuild but it prolly wont happen...i mean shyt even when Ruiz was knocking Joshua around first fight, he still won some rounds to keep it close somewhat

thought i heard Arum on the Bloomberg Sports podcast saying he expected 2MM buys. :sadcam:

i'm still confused to know whether people who pay for ESPN+ regularly had to pay the $80 for the PPV or not if they were watching through ESPN+. anybody know??

quick dirty math

wilder made $37,800,000.00

:blessed:

fury made

$44,200,000.00

Huh?

The cable company takes like 45 percent of the ppv, and there is also a fee that they gotta pay

So promoters only walk away with like 50-45 percent of that.

Imo slightly disappointing, with the momentum from the first fight, Wilder getting 2 KOs that went viral, and both Fox and ESPN promoting it I figured they would have cracked 1M. Still good numbers in this PPV era tho.

First fight did around 325k buys in the US and 425k in the UK. 800k in the US alone for the rematch is a massive improvement and now even more people know their names. It definitely cracked 1 million buys if you include the UK.

Idk if the casuals will stick around for another Wilder fight though :jbhmm:

The sure fire way for a higher buyrate is make the undercard strong...with a strong co main.. give a casual a reason to tune in

Tyson Fury's promoter slams Deontay Wilder over costume excuse, wants rematch waived: 'He's made some stupid statements'

Both fighters went into Saturday’s bout with a clause allowing for an immediate rematch. Wilder is expected to enact the clause for a third fight between the previously undefeated heavyweights. Warren is hoping he can convince him to pass.

That convincing, of course, would arrive via a payout.

“It would be expensive — but who knows?” Warren told The Telegraph. “The only way you find it is if you try.”

:patrice: they want that AJ-Fury grudge match in Wembley

I don't see how anyone can be disappointed considering the increase from the first fight and how much the sport/society has changed since Lewis vs Tyson :yeshrug:

And I don't think a third fight would do as well unless Wilder has a significant come back victory

Have they ever had a big fight at Old Trafford or Etihad?
