It was a mistake making nucky thompson the main character. They should have just sidelined him and centred it on new york, chicago, detroit, cuba hell even george remus in bumfukk cinciatti. the kind of budget they had and the era they were working with was totally wasted

Also they chose the most swagless dude in buscemi to have as the main character.

Alot of times, the myth of these characters are so great you don't want to fukk it up by making them the title character, so they use an unknown person or create a fake character to allow (us) the viewer to discover the world through their eyes. That's why they chose Nucky because he was a nobody so to speak.....then had Capone, Lucky, Rothstein, Kennedy and Lansky make appearances throughout the show. In hindsight, they could've took the GOT approach and had no main character but, had multiple storylines going on in multiple places that somehow converged into a main story.

Yea, I would've preferred they took the GOT approach with Boardwalk Empire. It sucks the last season was rushed. The casting of Luciano, Lansky, Capone, and Rothstein was perfect. They should've never killed off Jimmy.

And yes, I know they only killed off Jimmy because of Pitt's "issues". I just wished they could've worked it out with him. He was an incredible character. Along with Richard.
