Am I the only one here that understands why Eddie killed himself?
It wasn't about snitching or having now way out... it was about being alone. Duke came to America by his lonesome and all his life was ever since was Nucky. He busted shots for him, took bullets for him and all for what was seemingly nothing-- that's what brought about his frustration (of course) . When he spent that night out with Ralph it felt like he had a real friend for once, think about it, we never saw him enjoy ANYTHING with Nucky the entire show. So when the agent started talking that shyt about how Nucky didn't care for him the same old feeling started creeping in... but when Nucky had the nerve to show him his mismatched socks, it was a final nail in the coffin. That's the moment he finally realized and accepted that he wasn't shyt to Nucky but a butler/chauffeur/etc, he wasted half his life being loyal for nothing

i'm actually pleased with how they resolved the eddie situation. unlike p*ssy or adrianna in the sopranos, they had him make an early exit, sparing us a predictable story arc about his cooperation with the feds.
That rory dude seems like a fakkit. Middle aged no woman and that talk of I know sin. shyt would be comedy if that bytch thinks she got a winner to realize he's in the closet and I could tell Eddie was gonna kill himself after they broke him.

If anything Nucky really liked him. It was the only person Nuck trusted. Nucky is a kind of a cranky guy, it's hard for him to display his feelings (except if it might be a female he's simping for)
The last scene exemplified how Nucky had love for him. He was worried that he didn't come home last night like a father would for his son and even offered him food, whereas it used to be the opposite, but Nucky finally realized he isn't his assistant anymore but a friend he cares for.
I had a feeling he was gonna kill himself. And you can tell it killed Eddie that he was a rat because the last thing he didn was fix Nucky's socks even though its no longer part of his duties because in his eyes it's the last good thing he can do for Nucky even though he can never look at himself in the mirror the same.

That's exactly what I thought happened with regards to Eddie. I'm gonna have to watch it again to catch Eddie's story. Sounds like he left Germany with his mistress after robbing the store he worked for, his wife was not dead (as he likes to tell people) and his children not yet grown...he brought shame on the family name and his boys dumped his name to cut off all ties to him. To make matters worse, his mistress left him not long after getting to the U.S. and she may or may not have robbed him in the process.....did I get that right?
I can't even watch that episode 6 preview with Schroooooooooder as the screenshot....the Capone-Obannon war should be getting white hot, but with that bytch back, she'll surely find a way to drag it down.

you touched on some real shyt, but in the end, it was the his code that caused him to jump.
The mismatched socks scene could be exacty what you said, but it could also be connected to the scene where the agents said "no one is looking for you/you're not missed". When in fact Nucky asked him where he's been, if he's had anything to eat, and showed him the mismatch socks a sacrafice (although small) he has to deal with because he "promoted" Eddie.
Eddie flipped both figuratively and literally.
