Where does it state this was a "city approved street racing event"? If it even was still, why in the fukk are you racing on public roads that have uneven surfaces and other issues going 120+? This type of shyt should never be sanctioned, keep it to actual tracks.

Some people are playing dumb here and missing the entire point. There is not a 99.9% chance that street racers like this would do it on an open road with traffic, but a 100% chance. Yes, this situation may have been on a "closed road", but it's obvious it's been done in busier areas.
Also, who is to say that if it's a closed road that someone part of the group wouldn't have gone down to the end to try and film? They would be in harms way as well.
I can't stand these street racers. I'm also seeing a LOT more of these motorized scooters out there that are just cutting across the street and bombing on the sidewalks with no regard.

New York doesn't legally allow them to shut down the expressway. The racers illegally block all lanes for 30 minutes to stage and race. Think of it as essentially a pop-up no-prep drag strip. The NYPD tries to shut them down, but with traffic blocked off, they just give up. Also, the NYPD terminates pursuits pretty fast, and most of these nikkas have cars pushing 500hp.
