Olu Famutimi makes his NBA debut...as the head coach of the Raps :wow:

Fran Fraschilla seems to think this is the guy:

His Euroleague record hasn't been that impressive until recently. 2-10 in 2015-16, 14-16 in 2016-17, and 22-14 this season. He made it to the Euroleague final 4 with a bad roster:

This is some Maurizio gheradini as assistant gm type ish

Masai is a tool

The difference between Maurizio and Sarunas is that Maurizio was a nepotism hire. Maurizio was brought in because he discovered Bargs. His teams won in Europe because he had rich ownership groups who were willing to buy players. Sarunas seems to have succeeded without having a deep roster. We'll see what happens.

According to Woj, the other final candidates are Messina, Udoka and Nurse. Besides Messina and Sarunas, it looks like the final list is basically the same as Detroit's list.

Isn't Casey a final on Detroit?

Looks like massai being cheap and waiting to see if Casey gets hired so he don't gotta pay the full 6 mill

Find it hard to believe they would bring in a euro league coach...to me that says hes underwhelmed with the guys hes interviewed and is still open to someone else...I dont see DeMar being receptive to a euro league coach esp one who gets into players faces, that wont work in the NBA...

Masai going to hire some olu buhari as the head coach when it's all said and done

I just realized the scouting department and the junior assistant coaches are mostly dudes he worked with from Basketball Without Borders and Giants of Africa: Patrick Mutombo, Patrick Engelbrecht (their head scout), Jama Mahaelala, Mike Akuboh (scout), Abel Nson (scout), and Harry Ezemibe (Raptors 905). Engelbrecht was the guy who discovered Bruno btw :lolbron:

Probably wants to rid himself of the whole Toronto debacle.

Why can't LeBron come here though, if even for one year? Perfect mix of youth and veterans.

I think he realized he wasnt the front runner for the head job here and thats all that was keeping him here...He was gonna either be the head coach here or be an assistant somewhere else...
