Bill Demott has been relieved of his duties as the head trainer of NXT and will be replaced by Billy Gunn. There is a lot of speculation as to whether DeMott is still with WWE, but the recent controversy with a former WWE developmental talent accusing DeMott of hazing his students and making them train naked probably didn't help his situation.

TGO, How is this bad? Billy Gunn was more over than Bill DeMott. He was also always in better shape. :manny:

I'm a bit perturbed by it, as I feel Bill DeMott is the hard-ass that is needed. But maybe I've never seen Billy Gunn on his bad day :ooh:

I do not disagree with you, as a part of a group, he was always over.

Individually, he was never over. And it's not like WWE didn't try, they tried very hard. And I feel like was never a great worker. He sucked on the mic, but so did Demott. To me Bill Demott is a better worker. They both weren't spectacular, but solid hands.

They do need a hardass, but man, I truly believe they need to have an amazing wrestler/talent down there training people.

This is where I think if Scott Hall was ever clean he could be there. Great wrestler, great promo, great ring presence. This is what they need. How can anyone down there teach them this stuff? I mean they have gone through Demott, Al Snow, Billy Gunn, Joe Mercury? Why them? It's like a who's who of failed gimmicks and pushes.

I remember one time I drove up to a stoplight..at the height of the attitude era...dude in a drop top next to me, early 30s white guy, was blasting Billy Gunn theme song...."I'M AN ASS MAAAN...DUN DUN!"

Raven and Jake Roberts (heels) (will NEVER happen) and Steamboat (faces) should be trainers IMO

Billy Gunn was a solid hand, that's about it, then again so was Al Snow all things equal and I thought he was great on Tough Enough. I'll give Rockabilly a chance to fukk it up at least

He was actually very over as "The One" Billy Gunn.

Gunn won more belts and was featured in more PPV's, and was a star under WWE banner. DeMott might have been more talented but better worker is up for debate.

They're not getting HBK or Austin to do this full-time. Billy Gunn is their best option. He's not Steamboat but he's relatively young and can relate to a lot of these spot monkeys. He seems to be enough of a badass to be able to keep these guys in check. Plus he was more successful than a lot of great workers like Regal. You could make the case that he's more successful than pretty much any trainer that ever trained, really. Other than HBK and maybe old-old-timers like Killer Kowalski.

Scott Hall would be a brilliant choice, but again, I think he has too much money to want to do that even if he was ready for it. But for sure I could see him as a crucial part of developmental someday.

I'm real excited at what is to come out of the #Kliq Meeting at NXT. This is a bold move and I don't think it's a bad one at all

Gunn was a very good worker in his time. Not to mention he was over with the fans as a midcarder during the attitude era. Unlike Hugh Morrus who was more concerned with hosting nude submission wrestling workshops than doing his job. :mjpls:

:whoa: nothing at all against Bill. He was their best choice at a time when finding a real, credible trainer was tough. Bill did his job very well and he will be around in the fold for a while. But Billy Gunn just has more chutzpah. I think HHH respects him for speaking his mind. Plus he and HBK/Undertaker have been boys since '93
