To be completely honest, what hurt Portland's leverage in a CJ deal more than anything is that Norman Powell can give you similar production at fraction of the cost

No it's not. Taking on CJ's 3 year 100 million contract is just dumb. This is a panic move for Griff to save his job. He wants to show ownership that he's serious about winning. I'm not a fan of tanking but it wouldn't hurt to get a top 5 pick. Of course with this trade, it might not improve the Pelicans by that much.
Healthy CJ top five at the guard position and can play with BI and Zion
We'll see, i think CJ without dame, might prove to be an allstar level talent. he fits much better with BI and Zion, than he did with Dame. the 3 of them could be a solid core.

We know Lillard wanted to be loyal to the Blazers, but it's time for him to go. He can't waste his last good years rebuilding and there's plenty of teams that would be after him.

NOLA can be dangerous in that 5-9 seed with CJ. He and Ingram should ball out, not to forget once Zion comes back they could a lil nasty team. They gave up too much for him though, he’s not the guy to take them to upper echelons of the West. I can’t knock them for trying though.
Portland needed this rebuild since like yesterday, Dame+CJ peaked years ago. This trade is the first domino to set them up nicely going into the draft, and then when they trade Lillard.

Blazers won the deal. You get out of Cj's contract before it even starts. You just got out of Norm's contract. You got a young coach in Billups who actually played Simons and Nas to gauge their value. And obviously Simons played well enough to get Norm and CJ outta there. Now all this is speculation but if they get a top 10 pick and a decent trade return for Dame. I mean I thought they could have gotten more for Mccollum but it is what it is.
In what dimension? Is he even top 10 in the West? He's never made an All-star team.
