My favorite genre of all time....I have an extensive collection on dvd I actually own all the movies posted. Perfect for a friday night smoke session...been collecting since the 90s...black was so beautiful in those times and those movies low key saved Hollywood
Sweet Sweetback's Badass Song was the original. Can't remember Mario Van Peeble's dad's name (the star), but he was pissed off the genre turned into gangster/pimp flicks and not the revolutionary angle he was trying to push.
A slick, smooth-talking, womanizing young black DJ falls hard for an enigmatic woman he’s just met. Things take a turn for the worse, though, when she is found dead in his apartment. It turns out that she was killed by the local mob, which is trying to frame him for the crime. With the police after him, he calls on some of his old acquaintances to help clear his name and avenge the woman’s death.
