great Rewatchables episode where Van Lathan and Wesley Morris explain the significance of Boomerang and everything it represents.

I remember back in the day Tariq Nasheed did an episode on this, and had the same sentiments. Basically explained why this movie struck a chord with black folks. Every white person in the movie (the waitress at the restaurant, the dude in the clothing store, even down to the dudes pulling Grace Jones in the chariot) got sonned and was portrayed as corny and the butt of jokes. All the black folks was fly and upwardly mobile. It resonated with me because I was in school working at the time, and I was working right in the World Financial Center, where a lot of the office scenes and that Grace Jones party scene was filmed. Did something to a young breh's outlook.... :wow:

There was a thread a while back on Boomerang that somebody uploaded a podcast episode discussing the movie. It was really in depth and insightful. If he's still around hopefully he can post it again.
