Why wouldn't they? It helps as far as associating that actor with the role rather than seeing the actor. Eventually you become the name more than the actor. And marvel normally goes that route unless it's a supporting role
Nate might be good but he only has wrestling as his fight background. With him being an athlete already I guess he could learn on the way. To play Blade you need someone that knows multiple fighting styles, that's the main reason why people cling to Snipes and MJW because they are disciplined in martial arts.
But we also need new blood. Not guys who have been around forever. And you can always train for your martial arts and there's only but so much a studio will allow you as the star to do anyway. It's imperative to get a great actor first and let the other stuff come behind it at least to me. Marvel goes with new blood why think they won't here?

Its time to move on. Marvel needs to start young with Blade if they are going to reboot it. There's plenty of dudes out there like the dude they got for Luke Cage looking for a shot. It will never happen but they could use Wesley as Whistler

Thank you breh. No diss to Wesley or Michael but let's move on. New blood. They aren't the only two brothers out there who know martial arts or can learn martial arts. All the talk on this board about black actors and the need for new black actors and why we aren't given the same shot as white guys but when a role like this gets announced or even thought of, we go right back to the same well of ideas from 20 years ago. Oh yeah definitely Marvel will get an unknown or semi-unknown for the part and the Blade show should be the easiest to make for the most part if they leave it gritty. I want to see what Marvel's take of the story they going to tell for the show.

LOL I didn't want Sticky for the part, Sticky's fight background was getting beat by that Skater dude on MTV
. Sticky did beat that white dude on TMZ though. Yes every actor has a stunt double, even people with a fighting background, a studio will do it for insurance reasons.
