When Marvel revealed that it had regained the film rights for Blade, it came with the caveat that fans shouldn’t expect to see the character utilized in a live-action capacity any time soon. Six years later, and there still don’t seem to be any plans for Blade to make his debut under the MCU banner — but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige isn’t ruling out an appearance by the vampire hunter at some point down the road.

In an interview with JoBlo, Feige was asked whether fans should expect to see Blade included in any upcoming Marvel projects.

“We think it would be cool. Someday,” Feige replied. “My tenure at Marvel started 17 years ago, and there were two things that sort of launched the modern era. One was X-Men, which was the first thing that people said, “Oh, there’s life here.” But a few years before that, there was Blade. A character nobody had heard of at all, had only appeared in a few issues of Tomb of Dracula or something, turned into a big franchise. That was always a great lesson for me, where you go, ‘It doesn’t matter how well known the character is, it matters how cool the movie is.’ Which, many years later, would be the reason we do Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange. I think Blade is a legacy character now, and I think it would be fun to do something with him one day.”

Released by New Line Cinema in 1998, the original Blade saw huge financial success, hauling in a massive $131 million worldwide, which was quite an achievement for a superhero film at the time, let alone an R-rated one. The character’s last big-screen appearance came six years later in 2004’s Blade: Trinity, the lackluster final installment of a franchise that is often credited for helping to kickstart the current dominance of comic book movies in Hollywood.

While Blade doesn’t look to be heading back to the big screen at any point in the near future, the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to churn out new blockbusters, with its latest film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, swinging into theaters July 7.

Looks like he's answering a question to me

What do you want a release date, project Helmer and lead actor named or some shyt? They announce shyt at designated events not in random interviews.

Just say that you don't have anything planned at the moment.

I mean, I know you have to drum up anticipation but don't just say any and everything.
