Thing is, if a dude gets rejected by a certain type of girl consistently at 15, but then starts getting a lot of love from a different type of girl at 16...it's easier to stay with what you know. You develop your confidence and game around the types of girls that respond most favorably to what you're throwing out there. Most people grow up in homogeneous neighborhoods and go to homogeneous schools. In that situation, you HAVE to learn how to attract women of your own race. In my opinion Issa Rae was never "nerdy" or akward", she just wanted to be white. And now like many, they are latching on to the "nerd" train. When I was coming up, being a nerd or intellectual or anything other than the stereotypes we were fed about how we should be as young black men was some shyt.

I got the sense that things really shifted when Obama got elected. But it might have happened before that, I'm not sure.

I'm glad things have changed in that way.
