As bad as America is, it's still one of the few places where black individuals can be upwardly mobile. People take that for granted until they see how the rest of the world treats us.

It's like the grass is greener on the other side mentality.

When you constantly get treated like shyt, face discrimination, witness your people go through it, and your voice is not heard ..of course you wanna leave this MOFO.

Yet, reality hits that your color is a grim factor and a negative reaction to most countries. So it's a catch 22 between being treated like a outsider and black, or a citizen with spirit airlines seats :francis:

:mjlol: I'm watching the first one now. First of all, she soft as tissue paper. Did she say a CHILD held scissors to her neck?! And the rich parents called her 'dirty skin', like, everyday. The school had her outside picking root vegetables?! The schools didn't let them take their allotted 1 hr lunchbreak. Instead, they worked as the lunch ladies and were given the kids leftovers to eat.

Oan, tho, I found it bizarre that all of her cultural references were American. Michael Jackson ("Got me working, working, day and night"), "Balling!", "wasn't giving what it was supposed to give," "aint no way." I was told non Ados had their own cultures. What on earth?

But yeah, she out here crying for advocates. Like, don't she know bp must always advocate for themselves? It's like she never experienced racism. What's going on, resident dikk-riding Canadians? :jbhmm:

If escape from the racism is their main goal, then why run to a non-Black country known for being very insular and xenophobic (especially towards darker skinned peoples)? Do they not do their homework before they leave, or are they just making judgements based on the fact that they enjoy certain aspects of the foreign culture and the approximation the people have of our music?

Edit: Oh, she is from Canada? If so, how did she think South Korea would be more racially hospitable than more racially diverse and liberal Canada?

I swear some people are just missing the most basic common sense when it comes to Race... You can enjoy the art but that don't mean the artist fukk with you.. Goofy

Black people have this problem..equating art to life.
Learn to separate the two.
This is how hiphop influences it's Black listeners.

Korea is racist from people that have been there.

Korea is great . They do their own thing but they still got spots they won't allow you in but they still got enough so it's not an issue ...

this is like dudes fetishizing anime and going to japan in the 00s only to be treated like an outsider or disseminated against, that idyllic fantasy theyve built up crashing around their ankles has to be sobering

You aint lived until you've seen packs of them finally make it to Akihabara, and watch them girls outside the stores advertising bars literally cringe at the sight of them.

The reality is that she went to another country, and found out they didn't care about how things worked where she was from.

The Navy gives the "You are NOT in America, do not find out the hard way" speech at every liberty brief before ships on deployment pull in anywhere in Asia

Idk why she's surprised. I mean, South Korea's beauty standard is pale skin, and they're a really homogeneous country.

To keep it a bean, if you're not exceptional looking, you're going to face some discrimination, plus she's dark-skinned. If she were a caramel brown and a 7, she'd probably be fine.
