Wouldn't know nor do I care about what kind of show Beyonce does...

I hate Beyonce and everything she stands for, but th epoint that poster made was Beyonce is clearly several LEVELS above Lauryn Hill right now in terms of relevance, album sales, and popularity.

Beyonce could be 2 hours late and GET AWAY WITH IT the way her fans be on her jock-- but she's not because it isnt professional.

she was late in crediting everyone involved in miseducation. she was late many a time resulting in a bunch of marleys the world didn't need. lateness is a habit for lauryn.

Late at miscrediting? shyt, she had no choice but to give them cats credit because they took her to court and she took that L and had to pay out. She wanted the fans to believe she was magically this great writer and could play mad instruments and her collaborators weren't having that shyt

The Legal Tangle of 'Miseducation'

The Legal Tangle of 'Miseducation'
Pop Beat: Group wants a share of the songwriting credit and profits from Lauryn Hill's hit album.
December 19, 1998|GEOFF BOUCHER | TIMES STAFF WRITER
The critics who have made Lauryn Hill's solo debut the most acclaimed release of 1998 have consistently praised the album for its vision and honesty in presenting one woman's view on life and love.

But now, on the eve of the Grammy season in which it is a sure contender, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" is being portrayed in a lawsuit filed by a group of musicians as something far different--a group project and a lesson in the unfairness of the music business.

The musicians, known collectively as New Ark, are suing Hill and her label in U.S. District Court in Newark, N.J., claiming they deserve a share of songwriting or production credit on 13 of the album's 14 songs--and, of course, a sizable chunk of the profits generated by the album, which has sold 2.4 million copies to date.

The 23-year-old Hill, who gained fame as a member of the Grammy-winning Fugees trio, said in a statement that the suit is "without any merit whatsoever." A spokesman for the singer added this week that Hill feels "deeply betrayed" by the New Ark group, who toiled on the Ruffhouse/Columbia Records release for months at a studio in Hill's South Orange, N.J., home.

The album credits say the album is "produced, written and arranged" by Hill, and she is also listed as executive producer on all the tracks. The New Ark members--Vada Nobles, Rasheem "Kilo" Pugh and twin brothers Johari and Tejumold Newton--are acknowledged several times for "additional production," "additional musical contribution" and "additional lyrical contribution" on some songs.

Lauryn Hill Settles Lawsuit

More than two years after filing a fifty-page lawsuit in a U.S. District Court in Newark, New Jersey, plaintiffs Vada Nobles, Rasheem Pugh, Tejumold and Johari Newton have received an undisclosed settlement from defendants Grammy winner Lauryn Hill and members of her management team and record label.

The four musicians claimed in the suit that they worked on arranging and producing all the cuts on Hill's Grammy-winning solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and requested partial writing credit on thirteen of the fourteen original tracks on the album, with percentages specified in the suit.

While Hill's spokesman at Columbia Records confirmed that a settlement had been reached, he said the terms are undisclosed, which is typical in such cases.

This does not mean the end of Hill's courtroom days, however. Bassist Vere Isaac, who worked on the "A Rose Is a Rose" sessions with Hill and Aretha Franklin, filed suit against Hill last year in the Seventh District Court in New York. Isaac states in his complaint that he wrote the melody for the hit single. Isaac has retained Peter Harvey -- who represented Nobles, Pugh and the Newtons -- as counsel.

Sources close to Hill dismiss the lawsuit as an attempt to cash in by some overreaching studio musicians. But Peter C. Harvey, the attorney for the New Ark group, says it is Hill who is exaggerating her artistic heft. He says the hip-hop diva put her name on New Ark's work to establish herself as more than "just the singer" in the Fugees.

"She is not a musician, she is not a producer," Harvey said. "[New Ark] will make another album and everyone will see that they were the ones responsible for this album. I dare say if you put Lauryn Hill in a studio alone, she couldn't do it again. Album No. 2 for her is not going to sound like this."

Just show up on time. No need to get all metaphysical for why you're late as fukk.
I swear, I've never been to a show where the artist was hours late. Wtf? Maybe I'm just lucky.

Say I'm sorry for being late and to those who spent time and money to see me and I'll try to make it up to you in the future :scust::snoop:

I have to say the worst wait I've ever experience was 20-30 minutes at most. 2 hours late and only perform for 40 minutes? gtfo

I'ma try this on my boss.
" I was late to work because I was aligning my energies ":lawd::ahh:

Cuz that's what this is... a job. A contractual agreement in which she renders services for monetary compensation.

Basically she just needs to get over herself :manny:
