Japan, but from the 989
:beli:

We arent all descendants of kings and queens...most of us are descendants of the people who were mixing the cement or cutting the stones for them pyramids breh.

.someone had to clean the palace toilets :yeshrug:...

But thats beside the point i agree its empowering to learn your history but lets have some common sense about it because lying to oneself can be just as damaging

:mjpls: And thats what im getting at..if the white man makes you feel inferior..the solution isnt trying to be superior..you have to dismantle the inferiority complex because the superiority complex is just masking the problem..deep down youre still admitting someone is better than someone else and if youre not in a position of economic or political power guess who the second class citizen is by default

All those are valid but the government is really more a tool for the ruling classes..i think its foolish to expect it to work in your interests unless your interests serve the system somehow

I dont celebrate genocidal spanish pirates...word to my native peoples

and i have no problem with black history, knowledge or awareness but its sad when i run into these smart dumb nikkas who will tell me how Julius Cesar was black but have no idea who kwame nkurumah or marcus garvey were :upsetfavre:

They tell me all this mythical shyt about kemet but have no idea about great zimbabwe

agreed

I find it all to be interesting and the people who push the knowledge are interesting too. But on a Inferiority/Superiority complex, I think that in order to understand the inferiority/superiority complex you have to have a fundamental grounding in your history. Because that's were most complexes from groups of people come from, superior or inferior. You have school boards in Texas today trying to whitewash slavery from history books. Because they think it puts slave masters in a negative light. Now I agree a lot of these New Knowledge Brothas come very strong with their information and it can be oft-putting but the knowledge about Kemet is not going to be taught in Texas or any other public school because it promotes ideas that are against the general "American Apple Pie" narrative. Now, if these "schools" are not teaching this where do the children go to learn it? They won't learn it in the Churches they go to on Sunday, what about the respect for our ancestors? Will they forever be dramatized as frightened slaves who came over to America to find Christ to civilize them? Mass media does a Django movie but won't touch a Nat Turner movie. And yes you are a descendant of a King or Queen because we all had to get started somewhere...right?

There is an importance to knowing your history many of us just don't have the resources to even find out. Like, in my case I can only follow my family history back to my great grandmother's father. And my great grandmother said that her parents were slaves but they weren't good Christians, so they didn't stay...lol Real talk. She had a crazy sense of humor. Lived through the Depression.

Can we stop with this kings and queens shyt?

Where did this idea come from? Only heard it from the dumb smart crowd. It's math. Like saying all white folks are related to the queen of England.

Yes we need more education geared towards black matters in the community but it can't be over the top bullshyt that I see a lot. Too many YouTube PhDs. If it doesn't come from a reputable source, ignore it. Peer review is our friend.

My parents still have this issue framed in the house. Kings or Queens or Pharaohs. It's still important for the kids to know this history or its lost. These crazy folks in Texas are cleaning the history books from the actual recorded history of slavery.

I remember that one. Wish I'd kept it too.

Didn't mean to imply that there weren't kings and queens, just that any particular person can't claim they have royal blood running around in their body somewhere.

Texas has been on this for a while. Everytime I hear a story about their textbooks it shocks me. I'm all for discussion about historical accuracy and content but that conversation needs to be led by REAL historians and not low level politicians. Think I read an article about a dentist having influence in Texas state history books. Wouldn't ask a hairdresser to help modify my physics textbooks.

I worry about the South

More and more this site is just becoming a rest haven for c00ns:snoop:
On one hand I marvel at the self hate amongst some black people. On the other hand I realize that this is the Internet and you people aren't necessarily black. Either way one would figure that since this is an urban sports/hip hop forum, then the clientele would be progressive. I would figure that you people would be comfortable challenging the status quo, or the things that this society teaches us to believe. First of all you can't equate Afrocentrists with black supremacists. You most certainly can't equate Afrocentrists with white supremacists. There's a lot of "white daddy" shyt in the OP. the fact that it's being cosigned here is telling.

So if a modern Afro-centrist or whatever you want to call it says..

The Moors were black..
This claim has some validity the moors back then were black North Africans

The Olmecs were black..
This one is probably false
Genetic and immunological studies over the past two decades have failed to yield evidence of precolumbian African contributions to the indigenous populations of the Americas.[9][10][11] Additionally, the huge mortality associated with the spread of Old World diseases introduced by Europeans suggests long-term immunological isolation.

Ancient Egypt was black..
True
Is that black people whitewashing history? :dwillhuh:

Blackwashing in the case of the olmecs
