i dont blame the old head for not knowing, the feds killed and incarcerated so many black socialists and communists that by the late 80s, most black movements had to do without their leadership. they also kept them in solitary for their entire sentences - not uncommon for BPs and other leftists to do over 40 years all solitary confinement.

Rep. Clyburn clearly said "none that I've met or associated with in politics" in politics.
Not that it matters, but I would guess/bet that 2 out of the 3 hosts of that show have non Black spouses/partners.

He's 80 - the Black revolutionaries were his peers, classmates, and were around him during his youth. The reason why he never got caught up in anything was because he took the "safe Negro" route - he's a part of the political class of Blacks who keep out actual Black changemakers - in favor of moderate representatives and the like who only want the status quo with an occasional "Black speech" to get some representative support.
