I own a few books by Bogle, though not her biography. It adds up that an ex would put that out there to smear her. The context that stories are told matters.

Hard to say she didn't play herself, had a lot of Hollywood white men not wife her because they wanted to "keep their career" or wanted her as a mistress.

Carmen Jones, because of Otto meddling, her career fell off a cliff. Couple movies that ain't hit the same, lost her money from bad investments, daughter became a ward of the state, and she died in bankruptcy. Can't say it was tragic, she knew what she was up against. Lotta black people glamorize Hollywood before the CRM ended, Dorothy Dandridge was a huge casualty. I think she the archetype for lots of black women in entertainment today.
