Excellent video, with perfectly edited in examples of what she's talking about. Also, she lays it perfectly down about the black influences in the gatekept and racist journalist driven Elvis branded Rock, which was touted as the progenitor of the genre.

Main reason we didn't really take on Rock as a people was because of the high cost and lack of access to instruments and the time to learn.

Anything them peoples can't out talent us in, they try to price us out of.

Rap/Doo-wop/Soul and R&B only need vocals, that's why they could never dream of taking over those genres.

Can't price us out of microphones and vocal practice.

Rock was just the next step in the commodization of music. It was cheaper/easier to start a rock band and also end one on purpose to start the next group. Some of same shyt happening now has always happened.

We created Rock just like we created Country. EDM only exists because British DJs came to the states & couldn't believe what they were hearing out of Detroit hip hop & Chicago house. Went back to London & started doing sets off what they learned from black folks & black sound. It's all known
