I’m Canadian and folks even say my parents “sound white” even though they code switch

Black people live in a microcosm where you’re not allowed to act or like certain things that don’t fit within a strict standard. It’s the same reason why liking rock music is considered white (even though it’s a genre we started lol)

Back in school, I had to hide that I also liked to listen to rock music as I would be clowned. Same with classical music.

It didn't stop my love of other genres, but other kids knowing you like things not accepted as 'black' would 100% have you targeted and mocked.

My class was 27 boys all black except 2 white boys.

We've all heard the trying to 'act' white shyt from other black people.

Yea im mid 30s. Going to college and getting good grades isn’t looked as a bad thing now.

But when I was in school girls wasn’t checking for a smart dude unless he was in sports also and a top dude.

That was in New Orleans. Nobody even talked bout college tbh.

I moved to Mississippi after hurricane katrina and to them getting grades was cool and the school was talking bout college to 9th graders lol

Nonsense. There are plenty of girls that like those types of dudes. Often the girls are not what the guys are looking for, but yea, a number of girls like a smart dude, or a lame dude, or whatever.

Now, if you fat, or sloppy, or stink, or are really awkward around girls, might find it difficult.

Also if you're shooting for girls that don't like you, might find it difficult.
