I view this more as people trying to detach themselves from unpleasant situations and a coping mechanism of sorts more than anything else (or they are mocking the absurdity of the given situation). I see plenty of other people do this, not just black people.

Yes, you should. When it is a minority doing something, you have to qualify it. If it was the majority doing it, then you can generalize it. When you are so determined to generalize the negative actions of a minority over the majority, then you are demonstrating that you are willing to paint people with a wide brush and attribute the worst of them to all of them. That is the act that WS does to us everyday, and here you are contributing to it.

We never seem to understand that the issue is that we are 13% of the population but commit the highest amount of crime while having the lowest status in damn near every category that matters. Until we can figure out how to literally get rid of that "minority" you speak of, we will always be looked at as a problem, as a whole.

As I posted in a thread the other day, we CANNOT have homicide rates at more than double the next closest rate and be such a small part of the population overall but expect people not to generalize.
