Both those statements are true ...but
they're very misleading when it comes to understanding what really happened..some few Africans did participate in the slave trade for financial benefit but most of the slaves were caught by raiding parties run by Arabs and whitemen (ironically the same crews that brought christianity and islam)
Some black freedmen did own their own slaves..the number isnt that large..some estimate about 3000 some less..so to put it out there like slave owning was a diverse thing done by all kinds of people is inaccurate
the statements about being sold into slavery by other africans is correct though, it wasnt white raiding parties that caught most slaves, it was african kingdoms
