You CAN have a firearm in NJ/NY.

You get a firearms ID and buy a shotgun or rifle for the home. It gets difficult when you get into pistols.

Why isngun ownership by black people so low in my state, then, when legal ownership among black people is the norm in Southern states where the laws are so lax? Trust me when I say that it is near impossible for ANYone, including whites, to get a legal gun where I live. We are not a shall issue state. You have to meet criteria that is prohibitively strict or have a friend on the force who will issue you the license. Do you think states where majority whites barely own any guns is a choice they made?
