Interesting topic.

More than anything, this shyt really just emphasizes to me how terrible blacks have been about telling our own stories and writing our own histories, within the US and worldwide. We've woven just as intricate a tale as anyone but you just don't hear about it.

A lot of it has to do with worker movements and the belief in socialism and communism. The idea that workers of the world should unite, it was very much about all workers, regardless of race, so that had a healthy impact on race relations. Socialism and Communism have always benefited race relations and the treatment of minorities, as minorities and the working class have traditionally been near inseparable.

You are right. In the USSR, Africans that went there to study were treated better then they are today. A lot of Nigerian men that studied there married Soviet women with no problem, including one of my uncles. They were very aware that racism had negative effect on how the world perceives them. People forget that many ethnicities were part of the Soviet Union, not just Russians. They still had their problems...hard to eliminate racism out of the human psyche.

I was going through this sort of ultra-radical leftist phase when I was in highschool, and I ended up buying this book :

While I'm probably not as radical now, this book is definitely a valuable read.

Harry Haywood spent 4 years within the Soviet Union in the 1920's. He said that race relations were far better over there during that time period. This book is mostly about his political troubles with the Communist Party USA, but there is one story about him sitting on a public transport in the Soviet Union. One passenger did make a racist comment toward him, he wrote that other (white) passengers rushed that mutha fukka and beat his ass silly....


This doesn't mean that the Soviet Union was going to tolerate a bunch of niccas running trains on Ukrainian hoes at a Summer Jam concert.... But it was far more progressive than America was on race relations for most of it's existence.

Harry Haywood is an unsung hero, probably one of the most progressive black thinkers America has ever produced. This guy fought in WW1, WW2, and the Spanish Civil War as an international Brigade. Dude was a loyal Stalinist, and believed strongly in black separation from America. He ended up being kicked out of the CPUSA for being too radical (Or, maybe a better way to put it, because the party had become far too conservative).

Germany didnt exist until the 1870s. Very little of that film is based in historical reality.

As for Black and Nazi relations, it was no different here than it was in Germany. America was just had millions of Negroes with potential political power to deal with.
