It's been known that Africa is MUCH more genetically diverse than the rest of the world. I've posted on this before - there's more genetic diversity in Africa than in the rest of the world combined, so much so that some Africans are closer related to non-Africans than they are to other Africans. Let me get the charts...

The best genetic research out so far (subject to change as more data comes in) looks like the following:
* Southern African, Central African, Western/West-Central African, Omotic (in Ethiopia), and Eastern African are the most basic branches.
* Most of the East Asian and Native American groups are just one sub-line descended from that Omotic branch.
* North African, Middle Eastern, European, and West Asian groups are a second sub-line descended primarily from Omotic with the Northern African line also having ancient cross-influence from Eastern Africa.
* Southern African, Central African, Western/West-Central African, Omotic (in Ethiopia), and Eastern African are the most basic branches.
* Most of the East Asian and Native American groups are just one sub-line descended from that Omotic branch.

However, the slightly misleading thing about the above graph is that it describes ancient lines, not modern populations. Over 99% of modern humans are mixed between different ancient lines. Here's what that looks like - here are 6000 people genetically sequenced from 282 different tribes/nationalities across the world. Each different color represents a different ancient genetic line, you can see virtually all of them are mixed and most are mixed with at least 3-4 different components:

I think some are forgetting that homo sapiens EVOLVED in Africa, but there were other species, 6 according to Cheikh Anta Diop, BEFORE them that contributed their DNA to 'modern' humans.
