Racism is defined as prejudice plus power.
Says who?
When you're talking about a popular, common-use term (as opposed to an academic term), you can't just dictate what the word means and insist that everyone agree with you.
They're just playing word games at this point.
Unilaterally redefine a word; wait for someone to use it "wrong"; then unleash some psuedo-intellectual nonsense that you read on Twitter or your buddy told you.
At least when people are redefining pronouns and asking me to call individuals "they", it's harmless.
But what's the goal of redefining racism? The intersection of racism and power is very important to recognize as a distinct thing, and we already have terminology around that like "systemic racism." You can't fix problems until you can clearly communicate about them.
But what's the point of draining the conversation of all nuance? How, for example, do we discuss racially driven behavior against minorities in countries where blacks are in power? What is the official racial power hierarchy that dictates who can be racist to who, when and where?
