Infinity War will break records but I don't think it's going to pass BP for some reason. Most people won't go to the theaters multiple times to see Infinity War again like people did with BP.

LOL @ people constantly bringing up "Infinity War" (Like Black Panther ain't in that too, lol). Why Can't the Black Film have it's day in the sun? Nope, it's got to compete with 1,000 Superheros. So I guess Black Panther won't just be fighting Thanos in Wakanda, he's fighting the illusion of White Superiority in Comic Films, lol. I've notice online too that some people are using "Infinity War" as some type proxy to downplay Black Panther success. Mind you the movie hasn't come out so to me this is showing that people consciously and subconsciously really can't stand for Black People to be on top. I'm laughing because all the Box Office Experts that I know personally (Including myself) are already saying it's most likely to fall short of "Black Panther" domestically. Dudes are even writing "Spin Articles" in Hollywood already trying to cover for "Infinity War" losing to "Black Panther" domestically. Also I look at history, "Ultron" lost to "Jurassic World" and "Force Awakens" when a lot of people assumed it could beat both. "Civil War" lost to "Rogue One" (A Movie with no name Star Wars Characters) and "Finding Dory" (A Sequel 14 years in the making) when people predicted it would win the year.

"Infinity War" isn't even a "Finale" because there's another sequel coming in one year. The causal movie audience probably aren't going to latch onto it going over and over again because it looks like more of the same (Another comic book movie). Black Panther wasn't just "Another comic book movie" so it attracted a different type of audience. People assumed "Wonder Woman" success would give "Justice League" a bump and it didn't happen ("Justice League" is doing great on Home Video though). Same could happen for BP and I.W. "Infinity War" doesn't look like a new film. It looks like "Ultron, Civil War and Justice League" meaning Team Up films have been done over and over again. It doesn't have the newness of the first "Avengers" from 2012 today. Fanboys don't take a movie to 600 Million Domestically, that's not how Box Office Works. You need the causal movie goer to do that. Black Panther had Black Grandmothers and people who don't go to the movies going again and again on top of the Fanboys. I personally knew something was up when Disney PUSHED IT UP a week for "Infinity War". I Think they even know it won't do as good as Black Panther so they tried to give it an extra week. Look, it's an "Avengers" film so it's going to do gangbusters. But I don't see it matching Black Panther Domestically because that was a Phenomenon.

Now global box office? of course an "Avengers" film will win that but Domestically? Nope, it won't have Black Panther's legs. "Deadpool 2" and "Solo" will not flop. Deadpool is coming off a historic first film and Harrison Ford or not, "Solo" will have the "Star Wars" Branding on it, Returning to the summer for the 1st time since "Revenge of the Sith" where Star Wars made history breaking records. It also has the Memorial Day Holiday so it doesn't matter if it's crap, Star Wars fans are still going to eat it up. "Jurassic Park 5" (Ya'll slept on the power of this Franchise last time) and "Incredibles 2" (Like Finding Dory, another Pixar sequel decade in the making that fans are waiting for) will not flop so "Infinity War" just has too much competition. Meanwhile Black Panther destroyed every movie in it's path past and present. "Infinity War" weekend drops won't be as consistent so it's going to fall short to me. As for Black Panther topping the First "Avengers", yes that Ether is burning hard. The racist "Black Films Can't Travel" myth was not only shattered. But the idea that an All Black Cast can't put all types of butts in seats. Guys we really did it and shattered all time records. The Entire Black Diaspora really made a statement but because this was an American Studio Production, I'm happy Black American filmmakers were able to bring this to Black People around the world.

(This Weekend "Black Panther" passed "The Last Jedi" and "The Avengers" to move into the Top 5 Domestically while passing "Fast and Furious 8" and "Iron Man 3" moving towards Top 10 Worldwide)

It's been reported that Thor will have most of the screen time in this movie out of any protagonist character, so it might be a disinterest for some people. For me, I think Thor is just okay. He never really had a shining moment in previous Avenger films so I guess they are trying to make up for his character in this one.

Infinity War already has more pre-sale tickets than BP (and it lapped it in a much quicker time).. the movie dethroning BP is normal seeing as how its part 1 of wrapping up what MCU has been building for the last 10 years.

BP will remain on top for highest grossing solo superhero film, wonder where they'll take it next. I'd like to see Namor introduced but if they go down the path where he pulls up on Wakanda... :hubie: not trying to read wack think pieces :hubie:

'Black Panther'
The Disney and Marvel tentpole wrests the crown from 'The Avengers.'
Ryan Coogler's Black Panther has become the top-grossing superhero film of all time in North America, not accounting for inflation.

The Disney and Marvel release achieved the milestone on Saturday after passing up fellow Marvel title The Avengers, which grossed $623.4 million in 2012. To boot, Black Panther is only one of seven films to ever earn $600 million or more domestically (it currently ranks No. 6 on the list).

Black Panther has shattered numerous milestones since opening in theaters on Feb. 16.

Globally, the film has earned north of $1.2 billion to date. By the end of Sunday, it will leap past Iron Man 3 ($1.214 billion) to become the third-biggest comic book adaptation behind The Avengers ($1.5 billion) and Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.4 billion).

The movie, which cost $200 million to make before marketing, was a bold move on the part of Disney and Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige.

Black Panther is unprecedented in being a big-budget studio tentpole featuring a virtually all-black cast. Chadwick Boseman stars as T'Challa/Black Panther alongside Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.
