Does Ableton give you lifetime free updates, or just for the first upgrade?

not lifetime but you get discounted upgrades.

i think this year the owners of the live 10 suite would pay 100 for the upgrade to 11 next year for example but new buyers get the free upgrade.

I bought my way into the full version started with the free one intro to light to standard then suite ... been upgrading every black friday with the discounts it cost less than the educational discount. saved 40% overall.

that's how i started with it. I use a lot of shyt but ableton is my home cuz I know the shyt like the back of my hand.

the only thing annoying about intro is not having unlimited scenes (you will understand) and limited return fx tracks. but you can always work around those limitations.

got reason free as a rack or extension and reason light stand alone... they've been giving it out free for a while now with purchase of other things @pluginbotique

using it as a rack extension is clutch in ableton because i like plugins like the scream

This vid explains it best, but basically it does all the work for you.

It chops the sample up accurately, finds the tempo for you, stretches the audio to fit in the track and keeps the sound quality even when you pitch up or down. Then you can throw it all into a drum rack. shyt really is dope.
