After one run through I'm loving how this sounds sonically, one thing with Black Milk is you know he's always gonna be on something different with his production. Outside of "If There's A Hell Below"/"No Poison No Paradise", I don't think any of the albums sound like the other since he started experimenting and deviating from his early sound.

Also, Phonte blacked out yet again, dude been smoking every guest verse for like the past 5-6 years since he started rapping consistently again

Listened to this twice in the gym this morning…first impression is that it’s album of the year for me :wow:

The production is amazing as always for a Black Milk album but he’s really come into his own as a songwriter. This feels thematically and sonically like a carryover from Dive EP and that was my favourite project from that year as well.

Phonte’s verse really is special too. His ability to be vulnerable and it’s not emo/corny still amazes me but he’s in my top 5 OAT so I’m biased.

Thankful for the producer/songwriter types like Black Milk and Oddisee for keeping that feeling alive. DJ Quik of course being one of the best ever at that.

I feel like Dilla would've given us some amazing experimental material if he stuck around...

This album is great so far. Not sure how it fits into his catalog but I'm glad dude is back
