Back then our city it was extremely segregated. We are talking about early 80's segregated. We didn't even have Mexicans deep in the city yet..lol that's how different it was then. But there were sprinkles of Black people in this white neighborhood. I think there were about three other black families in around the area but that was that. It was nice place but that foolishness that occurred was unexpected.

White people tried to get me to leave my apartment by frequently making noise complaints. I invited these old sh!tbags over under the guise of showing them my new furniture, but really, I confronted them on their activity. I made sure they were seated and comfortable before I stood up gave them a stern lecture about "neighborly respect" for 10 mins.

I told them that I'm there to stay and I won't be intimidated, bullied, or forced to leave. I ended my speech by handing out my business card with my contact info on it. I told them to call me instead of bothering the doorman who is required to log every complaint. You should have see the looks on their faces. I'd bet a million dollars that they didn't think they'd get sonned by a young black man in a suit but they did.

I haven't gotten a complaint since.
