That cocaine was the only plug being pulled. :rudy: Nobody pulled the plug on black directors because they spoke out on racism. Hollywood "pulled the plug" on these black directors because they had a spark when they started then went :flabbynsick::trash:. Strange how Tyler Perry, with all the criticism thrown his way, somehow was able to build a prosperous brand and is relevant till this day, yet these cats couldn't. :jbhmm:

The internet streaming services has changed the game...:wow: You dont have to go to the major film studios anymore... Black filmmakers should be eating...

You still have to get your movie funded and made.... The thing is, I’m not sure how much those streaming services pay for certain projects... it’s plenty of low budget black movies on these streaming platforms though.. if you could get all black producers and executive producers, then we’d be working with something

Their court, their rules. That's why Tyler Perry is:blessed:

He can do whatever he wants, but he also understood the game

One minor thing that stood out in the articles is "numbers"

So, maybe I’m not looking at this correctly, but couldn’t TP be on an even bigger level if he would invest in these directors and their stories? I mean, it sounds like there are some intriguing stories out there that he could produce under his umbrella with black directors like these to diversify from that garbage he peddles. I know there has to be some cutting edge black scriptwriters out there with the next Get Out? Team them up with one of these directors and TP’s studio and backing? Obvious, but wondering why this hasn’t happened yet...

ego...

Whatever Tyler Perry puts his stamp of approval on, distributors pick up automatically..... but it appears that if he can get the entire credit for being the creative genius behind the project, then he’s not putting anyone on like that

We have the money to finance anything we want nowadays (business/art/infrastructure) just within the community. Problem is the lack of leadership and/or shared sense of purpose.

What does this even mean?

U dont understand ownership or stfu?

How can we get mad if they pull the plug on they own shyt? Its they shyt. I've heard this same sob story for decades.

You not the boss unless it's your money :dame:

I fully expect black filmmakers to produce finance and distribute their own projects. If not you'll be crying for the next 50 years that you were "blacklisted":coffee:

Dude, to be fair,

Perry went the "Chitlin Circuit" route and made a ton of money making money off of doing "Madea" THEN, he was able to do feature films and all the shyt you're talking about.

These people tried to go the traditional "artistic" route and make movies with real artistic integrity.

If they'd been willing to do a c00n show, they might still be around.

For fans of Black cinema, this part from the interview should sound familiar. The talent from the "Blaxploitation" era has spoken about when Hollywood pulled the plug on them, and moved on the next wave.
Here is a 2 minute clip of Fred Williamson and Gloria Hendry talking about the end.

and history repeated itself with television it seemed. use black shows to increase you base then drop them like a hot rock

I'm sick of hearing every 2 seconds Black people crying about how cacs did us wrong and cheated us..like we started off as lovers or something :gucci:

Shut up the constant crying and go make independent movies like the rest of the free thinking non cac dependent world does..:martin:
