The 2007 remake is one of the worst movies I ever saw in the theaters. The tone was somewhere between parody, and just bad horror movie.

horror has to constantly do things that make it “horror” and not safe. Releasing a horror movie on Christmas is subversive. A horror movie set on Christmas is subversive on principle. Think of a flick like the hills have eyes where the villains shoot women and children, which is still taboo in our society.


Once you see doctor sleep we can talk about the specific scene I’m thinking of but anyone who has seen it, knows the scene and it’s the first scene in the movie. We need to keep having stuff like that in horror

I loved the direction and themes, but I am into that stuff, and I doubt many posters here are, feminist studies, anti patriarchy, even a nod at the Supreme Court confirmation last year, the movie kind of let me down with the solution. It took that fun part out of the slasher genre, and gets really silly and overblown, but it's 3/4 of a fun little horror movie, with a lot too say. I have never seen a horror movie with this kind of messaging. I guess BH just gave this to the director and said do whatever you want, just call it Black Christmas, and make it by December release date.

I am liberal af and agree with essentially everything this movie wants to say.

But it's fukking awful. And it's decidedly not BLACK CHRISTMAS.

Worst of the year, probably.

too on the nose with the feminist angle to the point it felt like it was a parody. I was able to deal with it up till they became the Amazons from Wonder Woman.
If the director (who was also the writer) knew how to scale it back she could've had something dope

Also they cut out some of the death scenes for the pg13 rating and I couldn't help but to be annoyed by it. I'm going to fukk around and cop the unrated Blu when it's for cheap and who knows, I might end up liking it more by that time
