I agree that ww arent wearing weaves with textures commonly found among black people, like you see bw wearing non-black textured weaves, but considering what the "default" look is hair wise, why would they? Most already have that (straight hair). I have no issue with bw wearing weaves, unless they act like they cant survive without it then its weird to me. What is just as weird are the black men that profess their love, my bad, "preference" for straight hair on black women; they go hand in hand.
Then, you have black men saying they cant appreciate "what they dont see" on a black woman, but when you do see it instead of trying to appreciate it or give it a chance, you clown or accept other textures over the other. I used to think "not seeing enough natural hair" was a valid reason, but now? How does that make sense? Natural hair has been trending for a while now, but you still cant accept it?
Whats stopping you?
I am not dismissing the notion that white standards are practically forced upon us, and cause some black people to think that looking "whiter" is more beautiful than our natural looks. It affects some of us more than others. I get that, but there has to be some sort of purposeful thinking on your own behalf to continually not accept something you "hardly see" (in this case natural hair). The common reaction is to call it nappy, ugly, say you "dont like women with that type of hair" (Yes, I know black women do this too!). Which raises the question, you dont know how to appreciate natural hair at first sight, but you do know how to comment negatively on something when first seeing it without second thought?
That is something that comes from within yourself.
As far as black blondes, I used to have blonde highlights in my natural hair and I wasnt thinking about trying to be white or hating myself when I was in the salon chair. As for a full head of blonde hair its not for me, but some black women look good with it, and some dont. Really it depends on color tones and how well they look on their complexion. I hate it on black men (some black men with locs and blonde tips look fine).
