I'm as big of a Dana White hater as there is, but I can't bash him for that.

Zuffa had just bought the UFC, the company was three years removed from almost going bankrupt, and the TUF boom period hadn't happened yet. I don't think Dana could have paid BJ more even if he had wanted to. Don't get me wrong Dana's a scumbag of the highest degree and how the UFC compensates their fighters now is borderline criminal, but I can't hate Dana for how he handled that specific Baby Jay situation.

You can't blame the ceo/president of a company for acting like that? :dahell:

And mma fighter camps cost 3x as much :francis:
Thats the truth, im helping a friend of mine get ready for his pro debut, and he has to pay a striking coach, a wrestling coach, a jiu jitsu coach, strength and conditioning and he has trouble cutting weight so he is paying a nutritionist lol smh if i was in it for the money I would walk away from MMA tomorrow.
Side Note: Every time I hear Bj Penn talk it makes me work on my cardio and conditioning THAT much harder, because he could have really been something special if he, was in shape every fight like he was for the Diego fight.

:ohhh: I may need to see some footage for a potential interview

the moneys gonna get better in mma once theirs more competition bellator ,onefc etc.

Yes and no. Yes because it's not the money persay but the exposure. If UFC is really in debt they aren't gonna get out of it. They still have major marketing issues IE Conor mcgregor. But they are keeping fighters longer like Loyoto Machida who technically could cut but they don't want him going to the ops.

Having debt doesn't mean that they're in debt.

As long as the revenues allow them to keep up with the payments they're good.

I know they had a $500m loan that came due earlier this year...they either had to pay it off or refinance it.

I don't know which option they took

I hear you. He said it was bad debt tho :lupe:

And I don't think UFC has been hitting their TV/ppv goals this year especially. If mendes wins that will spoil a lot of marketing $$$

That's only BJ's side of the story. In a documentary that BJ did before his fight with Frankie last year both he and Dana spoke on the situation, and what BJ did was a lot more shady then what he portrays it as being here. Pretty much BJ called Dana while he was at the meeting with K-1, and told him on the phone he was signing with them with no warning. If the champion of any company did that the promoter would have the same reaction.

:ehh: it is like the cm punk issue. Back then it was very unprofessional. Even right now to an extent. They need to iron out some of these stuff.
