Do I trust the naysayers on TheColi. Or actually banks and governments making moves behind the scenes.

Damn 🤔

What do I do 🤔

Let me help you out there beloved, since I know you crypto bros love logical fallacies.

OGC, return to your duties.

I will gladly read your opinions. And eagerly await your stuttering next bull run and passed regulation.

As you were...

Hmmmm....risky, addictive, poorly planned, depends on luck, and no real asset behind the "investment".

Crypto clicks more of the "gambling" boxes than the "investing" boxes.
That’s idealizing what investing in something is. You look it up in the dictionary and 95% of that opinion piece isn’t there.

Gambling is going to a casino and playing a card game and hoping you win. Gambling is making a wager on a sports team to win a game. Buying Bitcoin is an investment. I don’t believe it to be a good one but you purchased an asset that has a value. The value has been drastically both higher and lower in the past and may go higher or lower again.

There’s been millionaires made buying and selling cryptocurrencies. They made a very risky investment and it paid off. There’s people that lost it all investing in a company’s stock. Again risky investment and it didn’t pay off.

A betting ticket is an asset that has a value too, until it doesn't anymore. Just like crypto.

The value of crypto has absolutely no relation to its inherent value or utility. It is solely a bet on whether it's going to go up or down.

A betting ticket isn’t like crypto. A betting ticket has no real value unless it’s a winning one. Crypto has value. That value may rise or fall but people have placed an actual value on it. Buying crypto is an investment even if it is an unwise one for the reasons you listed. It’s value isn’t based on anything other than what people will pay.

A betting ticket has value before the bet comes through. You can flip the ticket for more or less than you paid for it depending on whether the odds have gone up or down since you bought it. Just like a coin.

The coin has no intrinsic value beyond what people think their bet will pay off. If everyone believed the price was going to zero tomorrow, it becomes worthless. It's not like a stock based on a business with actual assets and revenue - it's value is solely based on making a bet on future price.
