I'm from the Uk can someone give a quick brief on why this guy is so famous please?

He was a bishop that was well-known locally for his church.....then became more well-known nationally after several young men accused him of molesting them, and he settled their lawsuit out of court. Also well known for that ridiculous hairpiece he used to wear.

While there was no direct proof of the accusations.....as the old saying goes, "when there's smoke there's fire".....and in his case there was a hell of a lot of smoke
